This project aims at unpacking the case of Prosecco through a longitudinal study able to capture the evolution of this designation of origin across time through a territorial branding perspective.

In particular the project will:

  • Retrace the main steps of the Prosecco designation of origin, by exploring the relationship among collective identity, geography and branding across time;
  • Analyse the inception and the current coexistence of the different Prosecco designations of origin, by scrutinizing diverse perspectives of institutional stakeholders and producers belonging to the different Prosecco production areas.

The project comprises the following activities:

  • Desk analysis of academic literature, institutional documents and secondary data on Prosecco;
  • Semi-structured interviews with the main institutional actors and producers across the different Prosecco production areas (Valdobbiadene Conegliano DOCG; Asolo DOCG; Prosecco DOC).
