Agrifood Management & Innovation Lab

The Agrifood Management & Innovation Lab at the Department of Management of Ca’ Foscari University of Venice aims at developing a mix of basic and applied research activities pertaining to the management of, and innovation in, the agri-food industry, one of the most important sectors for the Italian and regional economy. More specifically, the laboratory aims at contributing to the most advanced international scientific debate on management, marketing, innovation and strategy journals and conferences.

It also aims to speak to larger audiences of practitioners, policymakers and experts by issuing periodically updated thematic reports and publications and by taking part in dissemination events of various types. The peculiar mix of basic and applied research positions the laboratory as a reliable and credible source of contribution for the competitive development and evolution of the industry.

Mission

We aim at contributing to the scientific debate on the management of agri-food firms through basic, rigorous research projects speaking to the latest international academic conversations; we aim at providing policy makers and practitioners with innovative solutions, approaches and orientations through applied research projects nurtured by a constant dialogue with managers, entrepreneurs, experts and institutions. We believe that the agri-food sector is poised to become increasingly dynamic, innovative, modern and resilient, to face the challenges brought about by innovation, globalization and digitalization.

Research approach

Our laboratory aimst at developing a mix of basic and applied research activities focused on the management of, and innovation in, the agri-food sector. Basic research efforts will provide theoretically-laden perspectives on the evolution of the industry and on the determinants of firms’ competitiveness; applied research initiatives will address specific challenges formulated by the agri-food ecosystem in the Region and in Italy.
